Midstream Overview

Upstream, midstream and downstream are terms used to define specific operations and services within the energy industry.

Exploration and development activities take place upstream at the site where a well is drilled and oil is produced. Delivering marketable energy products to end-users is a downstream activity.

Midstream operations -- the core of SemGroup Energy Partners' business -- involves moving energy products through the logistical supply chain to end users. We gather, transport, terminal and store commodities. In order to provide customers efficient and cost-effective midstream services, SGLP owns and operates: a network of gathering and transportation pipeline; a fleet of crude oil trucks; and substantial storage and terminalling facilities.
